Time to Decorate

I am super excited to decorate the Christmas tree... I am waiting until all assignments are done so I can enjoy it. There are so many neat ways to decorate the tree, thinking of colour, design, texture, and themes. Adding decoration spruces up the house and adds visual appeal! Visual Arts goes overboard on the holidays and I LOVE it... it makes everything jolly.

I personally love the look of a traditional Christmas tree with red, green, silver, gold, and a few contrasting colours of purple and blue. I love a mix of ornaments some that have significant meaning and other ones that are just cute/beautiful. I like the look of different size bulbs and I use a large set and a medium set on the tree. I have the bulbs evenly balanced throughout the tree. I also add music when I decorate the tree, listening to all the classic Christmas songs to add to the experience!

Decorating the tree is a great family activity usually full of a good blend of joy and arguments over the lights. It is neat to collaborate on the tree with family and mix all the ideas together of how everyone visualizes the tree.

I always find that I am constantly picking at the tree after its been decorated, moving ornaments around and filling up spots that look empty. I can't help myself.. I always have to pick at the tree!!

I can't wait to start decorating..... Just writing about this gets me super excited!!

Some neat ideas of colour and themed trees. They look like so much fun!

  1. I am also excited to get decorating for Christmas. This is my first year in PG that I won't be going back home for Christmas, so we are planning to go out and chop down our own tree to decorate :)
    Merry Christmas Michelle!

  2. I am so excited to decorate for Christmas as well, Michelle. When all the assignments are finished that is when the decorating can begin! I never feel in the Christmas spirit until I have decorated!

  3. I can't waaaaaiiit!!!!! One of my roommates hates Christmas, so I'm only allowed to put up "winter" decorations in my house, but I'll help my mom decorate hers instead. I definitely love Christmas time for teaching visual arts to kids. Christmas ornaments are the best art project ever!

  4. That is so unfortunate Katerina! I really enjoy Christmas myself and I think that decorating trees is a pretty nice event to share. I personally, usually go get trees in the bush and have to trim the tree to make it fit into the house. I love the smell of the tree in the house, coupled with the lights dimly lighting a living room. It's a great past time to share with children for sure.

  5. I wouldn't call it "picking at the tree" - I would call it "refining the design"!! Thanks for sharing your excitement and yes, visual art is most evident everywhere during the holidays, as it is in cultural celebrations around the world that are made rich with colour and symbol as well as music and dance.
